NO MORE TROPHY HEARTBREAK! Reeve Frosler Sends Strong Message as Kaizer Chiefs Chase Carling Knockout Glory

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 27 OCTOBER 2026

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler has made the club’s ambitions clear, insisting that Amakhosi are determined to turn their Carling Knockout Cup campaign into a successful pursuit of silverware after suffering another disappointing setback on the continental stage.

The Soweto giants have endured a frustrating period after being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup by Zambian side Red Arrows, leaving the team with another competition to fight for as they attempt to deliver the success their supporters have been waiting for.

With the Carling Knockout presenting an immediate opportunity to revive their season, Frosler believes Chiefs must put their disappointment behind them and focus on the challenge ahead.

Speaking to the club’s official media channels, the experienced defender acknowledged the pain of their continental elimination but stressed that the team must now direct its energy towards domestic competition.

“It’s disappointing falling out of the CAF competition. The guys did well to try and get back after the first leg in Zambia, but it just wasn’t meant to be,” Frosler said.

“But now our full focus goes onto the Carling Cup.”

Chiefs determined to keep trophy hopes alive

Chiefs were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup on penalties after beating Red Arrows 1-0 in the second leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The result levelled the tie at 1-1 on aggregate, but the Zambian side eventually progressed.

The elimination was a bitter blow for Amakhosi, who had hoped to advance further in continental competition.

However, the Carling Knockout offers another opportunity for the club to compete for a major trophy, and Frosler believes the players must approach the tournament with determination and confidence.

The defender admitted that their upcoming opponents, TS Galaxy, have proved difficult to overcome in recent encounters.

“TS Galaxy have been a tough opponent for us in the last few games,” he said.

“But it’s a cup competition and cup games are always different. We’ll look to put our best foot forward on Tuesday and try and go all the way in the Carling Cup.”

Victory would send Chiefs into the quarter-finals and keep their hopes of lifting silverware alive.

Soweto Derby adds pressure to crucial week

The encounter against TS Galaxy comes at an important moment for head coach Fernando Da Cruz, whose team has faced growing scrutiny following inconsistent league performances and the continental disappointment.

Chiefs also have a highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates approaching on Saturday, making the coming days particularly important for the club.

Frosler, however, insists that the team will not allow the derby to distract them from their immediate responsibility.

“Our attention is on TS Galaxy now and we will use the game as preparation for Saturday,” he explained.

For Chiefs, the objective is clear: progress in the Carling Knockout, rebuild confidence and give supporters renewed hope of celebrating a trophy.

After watching another opportunity disappear, Amakhosi now have a chance to respond on the pitch and demonstrate that their ambitions remain firmly intact.
