Fintiri Marks 59th Birthday with ₦65m Donation for Critical Patients’ Treatment
According to The Sun Nigeria news on October 27, 2026, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has donated ₦65 million to support the treatment of patients battling life-threatening illnesses in two teaching hospitals in the state as part of activities marking his 59th birthday.
The governor announced the financial intervention during visits to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, and Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital, where he expressed concern over the challenges faced by patients requiring urgent and specialized medical attention.
Fintiri donated ₦20 million to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital and ₦30 million to Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital. A business associate also contributed an additional ₦15 million to support the initiative, bringing the total donation to ₦65 million.
The intervention is aimed at assisting patients who cannot afford the cost of treating serious medical conditions and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent them from accessing essential healthcare services.
During the visits, the governor emphasized the importance of providing support to vulnerable individuals, particularly those battling critical illnesses that require expensive and prolonged medical treatment.
He explained that the donation reflected his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that residents of the state could access necessary medical services regardless of their financial circumstances.
Fintiri also reaffirmed his government’s determination to invest in human capital development, noting that the health and well being of citizens remained essential to the overall development of the state.
According to the governor, supporting people facing serious health challenges is an important aspect of governance, particularly for families struggling to meet the financial demands of hospital care.
The birthday intervention also highlighted the role of collaboration between government officials, private individuals and other stakeholders in addressing healthcare challenges and supporting patients in need.
The contributions are expected to provide financial relief to beneficiaries receiving treatment at the two teaching hospitals, although the specific number of patients who will benefit from the funds was not stated.
Teaching hospitals play a significant role in providing specialized medical services, training healthcare professionals and supporting medical research. However, the cost of treating life-threatening conditions can place considerable financial pressure on patients and their families.
Fintiri’s donation comes amid continuing efforts by state governments and other stakeholders to improve access to healthcare and reduce the burden of medical expenses on vulnerable households.
The initiative underscores the importance of targeted financial assistance in helping patients obtain treatment and supporting broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in Adamawa State.
The governor’s birthday celebration was therefore marked by a humanitarian intervention focused on improving access to medical care and assisting residents facing serious health difficulties.
