ECG Plans Maintenance To Improve Power Supply In Kumasi

The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced plans to improve power supply reliability in parts of Kumasi and surrounding districts in the Ashanti Region through maintenance and network upgrade works scheduled for the coming weeks.

According to GBC Ghana Online which reported on October 25, the company is carrying out routine maintenance on transformers, power lines and substations to reduce unplanned outages, improve voltage stability and enhance overall service quality for customers.

The maintenance works include replacement of faulty equipment, trimming of trees near power lines, tightening of loose connections and upgrading of overloaded circuits that affect power stability and cause frequent interruptions.

According to CitiNewsroom which reported on October 24, officials of ECG in the Ashanti Region said the works are necessary to ensure safe and stable electricity supply to homes, businesses, schools, hospitals and industries that depend on reliable power.

They apologized for any inconvenience that the planned outages may cause and urged customers to cooperate, to switch off sensitive appliances during outages and to take necessary precautions during maintenance periods.

According to Graphic Online which reported on October 24, ECG said it is also working to address illegal connections and power theft which contribute to system overloads, technical losses and revenue losses affecting its operations and ability to invest in improvements.

The company is encouraging customers to report faults promptly through official channels, pay bills on time, avoid illegal connections and use energy efficient appliances to reduce consumption and electricity costs.

According to GhanaWeb which reported on October 24, residents and business owners in areas such as Asafo, Bantama, Ahodwo, Suame and other suburbs have been informed about scheduled maintenance through community announcements and have been advised to plan activities accordingly.

ECG said it has improved its customer service channels including mobile app, call center, social media platforms and district offices to receive complaints and to provide timely information on outages, billing and new connections.

The company is also collaborating with the Energy Commission and other stakeholders to promote safety in the use of electricity and to prevent electrical fires, shocks and accidents in homes, markets and workplaces.

The Electricity Company of Ghana says it remains committed to providing reliable power supply to support economic activities, education, health services and improved living standards in the Ashanti Region.

The ongoing maintenance and upgrade works are expected to lead to more stable power supply, reduced outages and improved customer satisfaction in the coming months as demand increases.
