Duduzane Zuma Exposes Dirty Secrets About Illegal Europeans in SA

Duduzane Zuma, First Deputy President of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, has questioned the bias in South Africa’s anti-illegal immigration campaigns, arguing that the public and grassroots enforcement disproportionately target impoverished African and Asian migrants, while undocumented Europeans allegedly avoid similar consequences.

Zuma said that statutory immigration regulations must be enforced equally regardless of colour, national origin, or economic condition while addressing supporters at a community hall in uMlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, as part of the MK party’s campaign route ahead of the 4 November local government elections. He voiced his displeasure with the way immigration enforcement was framed, warning that civil lawsuits pitting non-South African Africans against one another ultimately simplifies border management into racial tensions and isolated incidents of bigotry.

Undocumented European nationals living or running enterprises in South Africa are seldom targeted or investigated by community organisations, business inspectors, or social movements, according to Zuma. He argued that the lack of proper documentation for foreign nationals living or working in the country affects people of all racial and economic backgrounds, and that a more effective strategy would be to enforce the law consistently across all communities instead of focusing on specific groups.

Amidst widespread discontent with issues such as high unemployment, strain on municipal infrastructure, and inadequate border security, Zuma issued a warning to community people and civic organisations against breaking the law or resorting to violence or vandalism. He emphasised that the morality of immigration enforcement is called into question when persons in wealthy or foreign-dominated economic sectors are ignored while disadvantaged informal merchants in slums are targeted.

In response to rising public demonstrations, company shutdowns, and vigilante-style inspections spearheaded by civic organisations targeting foreign-operated facilities, the politician’s comments came amid increased security operations and military deployments across KwaZulu-Natal. Zuma emphasised that the government must prioritise border security and statutory compliance to safeguard national sovereignty. He also said that South Africans should reject xenophobia and demand that immigration laws are enforced fairly, consistently, and without bias by the Department of Home Affairs and law enforcement.
