DP Kithure Kindiki Clarifies Government’s Position on Live-Streaming of 2027 Election Results
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has addressed growing concerns over the transparency of Kenya’s upcoming General Election, dismissing allegations that the government intends to restrict live-streaming of election results to interfere with the electoral process.
Speaking on Monday, October 26, 2026, during a visit to Kinangop Constituency in Nyandarua County, Kindiki assured Kenyans that the next election would be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and that the process would remain free, fair, transparent and credible.

The Deputy President rejected claims that the government was planning to undermine democratic freedoms, insisting that the administration would not support any move that could compromise the integrity of the polls.
He maintained that results announced at polling stations would be handled transparently, with live-streaming permitted, dismissing rumours suggesting that authorities intended to conceal election outcomes from the public.
Kindiki further argued that the current administration benefited from a credible electoral process during the 2022 General Election and had a responsibility to protect the same democratic principles ahead of the 2027 contest.
He urged politicians seeking elective positions to conduct peaceful campaigns and avoid violence, intimidation and other actions that could threaten national stability.
According to the Deputy President, political competition should never be allowed to divide the country or put the lives of citizens at risk. He emphasised that candidates who emerge victorious should be allowed to serve, while those who lose should prepare for future elections.
During his tour of Kinangop, Kindiki also inspected the construction of a 580-bed hostel at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kinangop Campus. The project is being undertaken at a cost of Ksh232 million.
His remarks come as political leaders and Kenyans continue to focus on preparations for the 2027 General Election, with transparency, accountability and public confidence in the electoral process expected to remain key issues in the months ahead.
