Darajani Gogo Rejects KSh 7 Million FKF Offer, Heads to Court Over Relegation
Darajani Gogo FC have taken a firm stand against their planned relegation from the National Super League (NSL), choosing to pursue a legal battle against the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) rather than accept a reported KSh 7 million offer.
The Kibra-based club has challenged FKF’s decision to relegate it to the lower division, arguing that the federation applied different rules when determining promotion and relegation for the 2026/2027 season.
According to reports by TV47 Kenya, Darajani Gogo rejected the KSh 7 million offer and opted to continue with its court challenge. The club’s decision comes amid an ongoing dispute over the rules used to determine the composition of the National Super League.
Darajani Gogo finished 17th in the 20-team league during the 2025/2026 season. Under the federation’s September 2025 restructuring rules, four teams were set to be relegated, placing the club among those facing demotion.
However, the club maintains that FKF should have applied the 2019 competition regulations consistently. Under those rules, only three teams would have been relegated, meaning Darajani Gogo would have retained its place in the second tier.
The club has accused FKF of applying the older rules when arranging a promotion play-off between Kapiolani Sharks and Mombasa United, while relying on the newer regulations to relegate four NSL teams.
Through its patron, Dr Ahmed Kalebi, the club moved to the High Court seeking to overturn the relegation decision and secure reinstatement in the league.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, the Machakos High Court granted the club permission to pursue judicial review proceedings. The court also issued orders stopping the commencement of the 2026/2027 NSL season and preserving Darajani Gogo’s status as an active member club while the case proceeds.
The decision affected plans to begin the competition on October 25, leaving participating clubs waiting for further direction.
The court directed Darajani Gogo to file and serve its substantive application within seven days. The matter is scheduled to return to court on November 17 for further directions.
Despite the legal action, the club has indicated that it remains open to discussions with FKF to find an amicable solution.
