Betty Bayo’s Daughter Sky Victor Appeals to Kenyans After Court Ruling on Where She Should Live
Sky Victor, the daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has appealed to Kenyans and President William Ruto for help following a court ruling concerning where she and her brother should live.
Sky expressed disappointment with the decision, saying it did not reflect her wishes. She stated that she would prefer to remain with her stepfather, Tash Gitau, who was married to her late mother, rather than live with her biological father, Prophet Victor Kanyari.
According to Sky, Tash has played an important role in raising her and her brother, and she feels more comfortable living under his care. She also expressed concerns about moving to her biological father’s home, claiming that she does not feel safe there.
Sky further alleged that her biological father had made negative public remarks about her late mother and statements concerning her and her brother that had upset her. She also claimed that during a stay at her father’s home, her phone was taken away, preventing her from communicating with Tash.
The young girl said the ongoing court proceedings had affected her emotionally and disrupted her peace of mind and concentration in school. She explained that she had been waiting for the judgment with the hope that the court would consider her wishes, but was disappointed by the outcome.
In her public appeal, Sky asked Kenyans and other well-wishers to support her and her brother, saying she wanted their concerns to be heard and considered. She also appealed directly to President William Ruto to intervene and help ensure that their wishes and welfare receive attention.
Sky acknowledged that the court had reportedly directed parties not to discuss the case publicly. However, she maintained that she was speaking about her personal experiences and concerns regarding her future and that of her brother.
Her statements have sparked debate online, with the matter raising questions about the children’s preferences, their emotional well-being and the circumstances surrounding their living arrangements following their mother’s death.
The dispute remains a sensitive family matter, and the allegations made by Sky should be distinguished from any findings formally established by the court. Ultimately, the children’s best interests, safety and emotional welfare remain central considerations in determining their living arrangements.
