Hayford said the cheque was presented to him by former Kotoko administrative official Edmund Ackah, but he was unable to cash it.
The experienced coach disclosed that he still has the cheque in his possession, years after the incident.
“When my wife died, the cheque Kotoko gave me as a funeral donation bounced. It was GH¢200, brought by Edmund Ackah. The cheque is still here,” Hayford said on Kessben FM.
Hayford previously coached the Porcupine Warriors and guided the club to a league title during his time in charge.
His revelation has brought renewed attention to his past relationship with the Kumasi-based club. However, he did not provide further details about why the cheque bounced.
