Bad News for Gachagua, Kalonzo and Babu Owino as Sifuna Receives This Message From Ruto’s Camp

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has reportedly sent another message to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, urging him to reconsider his political alliances as the race towards the 2027 General Election gains momentum.

Barasa told Sifuna to take his time and consider joining President William Ruto, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

“SIFUNA, kuja pole pole ujiunge na RUTO, Gachagua pamoja na Kalonzo na Babu Owino wanakucheza,” Barasa was quoted as saying.

In English, the message means Sifuna should move carefully and consider joining the other leaders, warning that they could be using him for their own political interests.

The remarks come as Sifuna continues to attract attention through the Linda Mwananchi movement, whose supporters have backed his presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 polls.

Barasa has previously urged the senator to return to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), arguing that he should reconsider his decision to pursue a separate political path.

In September, the governor warned Sifuna that some of his political allies could be pursuing their own interests. He also encouraged him to consider his long-term political future within ODM.

However, Sifuna has continued to pursue his political ambitions outside the ODM leadership structure following his removal as the party’s secretary-general.

The political landscape has also become more complicated as opposition leaders negotiate possible alliances and compete for influential positions ahead of the next election.

Gachagua and Sifuna have held discussions about cooperation, while Kalonzo remains a key figure in negotiations over the opposition’s presidential ticket. Babu has also publicly supported Sifuna’s presidential ambitions in previous statements.

These developments have raised questions about whether the opposition can agree on one candidate to challenge Ruto.

Barasa’s latest reported remarks add to the debate over Sifuna’s political future. However, the full context of the quotation should be confirmed before publication.

Do you think Sifuna should continue with his presidential ambitions or reconsider his political alliances?
