What Sonko Asked Mosiria to Deliver for Nairobi Residents If He Becomes Governor

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria says former Governor Mike Sonko has endorsed his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election and urged him to prioritise key health projects if elected.

Mosiria made the announcement after meeting Sonko on Monday, October 26, 2026. However, Sonko had not publicly confirmed the endorsement at the time of publication.

According to Mosiria, Sonko asked him to prioritise the long delayed Pumwani Maternity Hospital project and develop it into a teaching and referral hospital. He also said Sonko urged him to expand Mutuini Hospital, pledging to pursue both projects if elected governor.

Mosiria said he intended to work with Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i, People’s Party leader Ndindi Nyoro and Sonko to address Nairobi’s challenges.

He also pledged to fight corruption and enforce building regulations, citing concerns over building collapses in the city. Mosiria said developers should obtain approvals without being forced to pay bribes and warned that public safety must come first.

The announcement comes days after Governor Johnson Sakaja removed Mosiria from his position as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service on October 21. The county circular announcing the change did not state the reason for his removal.

Mosiria had declared his interest in contesting the governorship on October 11 during a church service hosted by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Meanwhile, a TikTok personality known as Daddy’s Girl has called for protests at City Hall on Wednesday, October 28, following Mosiria’s removal.

With the 2027 General Election approaching, Mosiria has begun outlining his priorities and political alliances as he seeks to lead Nairobi County.
