Umar Ardo Reacts To President Tinubu and First Lady’s Romantic Moment At APC Rally In Kaduna
Dr. Umar Ardo, former presidential adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has recounted a moment between President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu that caught his attention during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna.
Ardo shared the observation during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, October 25, 2026, while reflecting on the event and the moments he noticed as he watched the programme closely.
The convener of the League of Northern Democrats said two things stood out to him during the rally. According to him, one caught his eye, while the other caught his ear, as he observed both the personal interaction involving the president and the political messages delivered by party leaders.
Focusing on the moment between Tinubu and his wife, Ardo described the interaction as a romantic gesture, recalling how the First Lady appeared to feed the president during the event.
He explained that he saw Tinubu turn towards his wife and open his mouth as she offered him something. Although he could not establish exactly what she gave him, the brief exchange caught his attention as he followed the proceedings.
Ardo also noted that while the cameras were directed at the couple, the broadcast did not zoom in on the moment. He suggested that the interaction might have escaped the attention of many viewers despite taking place during the high-profile political gathering.
Recounting what he observed, Ardo said, “I watched the programme very keenly, and two things caught my attention. One caught my eye, and the other caught my ear. The one that caught my eye was a romantic act. I saw the First Lady, the wife of the president, feed the president. He turned like this and opened his mouth, and she fed him with something.”
The observation provided a lighter perspective on the Kaduna rally, which brought together Tinubu, senior APC leaders and party supporters as the ruling party began its presidential campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
While the gathering was primarily political, Ardo’s account drew attention to a personal exchange between the president and the First Lady, showing how seemingly brief moments away from the main speeches can also become talking points when political events are closely watched.
