Tinubu’s Health Claims, Alleged Empty Stadium Rock APC’s 2027 Campaign Flag-Off in Kaduna

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday October 26, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State has triggered a political dispute, with opposition figures questioning President Bola Tinubu’s health and popularity, while party loyalists have defended his fitness for office and described the rally as successful.

The 2027 re-election campaign was formally launched at Ranchers Bees Stadium on Saturday. However, videos and photographs from the event fuelled criticism over the President’s appearance and the number of supporters who attended.

On Sunday, footage circulated online showing First Lady Remi Tinubu apparently placing a substance believed to be medication into the President’s mouth. The video prompted speculation about his health, with some viewers also alleging that he appeared to have difficulty moving one hand.

Paul Ibe, media aide to African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, urged the President to suspend his campaign and seek medical attention, describing him as unfit to lead the country. He also alleged that camera angles were deliberately used to conceal the rally’s attendance.

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore similarly questioned Tinubu’s fitness, arguing that Nigeria needed a leader whose health could reliably withstand the demands of the presidency.

However, APC founding member and former Voice of Nigeria Director-General Osita Okechukwu dismissed the allegations, saying the President was well and that discussions should focus on policy rather than health speculation.

Okechukwu also rejected claims of poor attendance, insisting that the stadium was filled and that some supporters remained outside because they could not enter the venue. He explained that the Ahmadu Bello Stadium was unavailable because it was undergoing repairs.

Political commentator Isaac Fayose, however, described the rally as evidence of declining APC popularity, alleging that the party failed to fill the venue despite bringing supporters from other states.

The disagreement has intensified political exchanges ahead of the 2027 election, with both sides offering sharply contrasting assessments of the President’s health and the strength of his support in northern Nigeria.
