“Re-Elect Me in 2027”: Ruto Appeals to Makueni Residents, Promises Fair Share of Development
President William Ruto has appealed to residents of Makueni County to support his re-election bid in the 2027 General Election, promising that every region in Kenya will benefit from government development projects regardless of its political affiliations.
The President made the appeal during his development tour of Ukambani, which covers Makueni, Machakos and Kitui counties. He said his administration was committed to addressing regional inequalities and ensuring that all Kenyans benefit from public investments.
Ruto argued that political differences should not prevent communities from receiving essential government services. He maintained that all Kenyans contribute to national revenue through taxes and therefore deserve access to development projects, irrespective of how they voted in previous elections.
The Head of State also challenged Ukambani residents to reconsider their political choices ahead of the 2027 polls, urging them to back his administration as he seeks another term in office.
During his engagements in Makueni, Ruto highlighted investments in road infrastructure, water supply and land ownership. He launched the KSh1.4 billion Kyambeke-Kyuasini-Ukia Road and commissioned the KSh1.5 billion Kyambeke-Kikoko Road in Kaiti Constituency.
He also announced that the government was investing KSh16 billion in seven roads covering approximately 180 kilometres across Makueni County. The projects are intended to improve transport links and make it easier for residents to access markets and essential services.
In addition, the President issued 6,800 title deeds to residents of Kaiti Constituency, saying the government wanted to address land ownership challenges and help more Kenyans secure legal ownership of their property.
Ruto’s development tour also took him to Machakos County, where he commissioned the KSh1.47 billion Mwala Cluster Water Supply Project. The facility is expected to supply 6.6 million litres of water daily, serving approximately 137,400 people and 10 institutions across 10 towns.
He further announced plans for additional road and water infrastructure investments, saying the government would continue implementing projects across the country.
The President’s appeal comes as political leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election. Ukambani has traditionally been an important support base for Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, making the region a significant focus of Ruto’s political outreach.
Ruto has repeatedly insisted that his administration will not discriminate against communities based on their political choices. His message during the tour has centred on equitable development, infrastructure investment and the need for national unity.
However, his promises and development commitments will ultimately be judged by residents based on project implementation, completion timelines and the benefits delivered to local communities.
As the 2027 elections approach, the President is seeking to convince voters that his administration’s development record deserves another term, while promising that no part of Kenya will be left behind.
