MultiChoice Ghana unveils new DStv packs starting from GH¢50
Beginning Thursday, 5 November 2026, DStv will replace its six existing packages with four new ones, with prices starting at GH¢50 a month.
Country CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, announced this at a joint press conference with the Ministry for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, on Monday, 26 October.
He said the change is not a promotion, and the Padi, Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium packages will all be replaced.
“Those new packs have everything, everything and something for everyone at unbelievable prices,” he said.
The cheapest pack, called Starter, will cost GH¢50 a month and come with 90 channels. They include Akwaaba Magic, Novellas Plus, Africa Magic Epic, Cartoon Network, Zee World, M-Net Movies and Legends, along with all La Liga matches. Free-to-air channels such as TV3 and UTV are also included.
“We want every home to start watching DSTV on this pack,” he said.
The Select pack will cost GH¢100 a month and carry 123 channels, among them all M-Net Movies, Africa Magic, Showcase, CNN and WWE.
Mr Okyere described it as “the home of entertainment”, noting that customers used to pay 188 for the Family package, and that Select is better value than that.
For football lovers, the new Sports pack will cost GH¢250 a month and will carry all of DStv’s football, including the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and La Liga.
“For all football lovers, we are introducing a pack called Sports. This will have hundred percent of our football proposition,” he said.
The final package, the Ultimate pack, will cost GH¢570 a month and includes comprehensive sports and full premium entertainment offerings.
The new prices come after more than a year of pressure over what Ghanaians pay for DStv. MultiChoice raised prices twice in 2024, then again by an average of 15 percent in April 2025, which angered customers.
In mid-2025, Mr George ordered a 30 percent cut, arguing that prices had not followed a cedi that had gained about 30 percent in five months.
He also pointed out that the Premium bouquet cost $83 in Ghana against $29 in Nigeria, and warned of licence suspension if MultiChoice did not comply. MultiChoice said it could not make the cut as demanded.
