List of Ukambani Leaders Who Accompanied Kalonzo to Wamunyoro

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has arrived at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County ahead of expected coalition talks among opposition leaders.

Kalonzo was accompanied by Ukambani governors Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos, Mutula Kilonzo Jr of Makueni, and Julius Malombe of Kitui. Their visit has drawn attention as political leaders continue to explore ways of working together ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The meeting comes at a time when opposition leaders are under pressure to unite and develop a common strategy to challenge President William Ruto’s administration in the next election.

Kalonzo has been among the leaders calling for political cooperation to address the challenges facing Kenyans. Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has also been building relationships with leaders opposed to the current administration.

The presence of the three governors has added political weight to the visit, especially because of their influence in the Ukambani region. Their participation could help strengthen discussions on regional interests and the wider opposition agenda.

Although the exact details of the talks have not been made public, the meeting is expected to attract interest from Kenyans watching the formation of possible political alliances.

Opposition leaders face the challenge of agreeing on a common presidential candidate, sharing political positions, and building trust among their supporters.

The visit could therefore mark another step towards closer cooperation among leaders seeking political change.

However, Kenyans will be watching to see whether the planned discussions lead to a united opposition coalition or remain part of ongoing political consultations.
