How Dickson Sitei Blew A Mistaken KSh 6.7 Million Bank Deposit Revealed
The mystery surrounding how Kajiado gubernatorial aspirant Dickson Yiaile Sitei allegedly spent a staggering KSh 6,744,354 accidentally sent to his bank account has finally been exposed.
Detectives from the Banking Fraud Investigation Unit tracked down and cornered the prominent politician along Lantana Road in Westlands, Nairobi.
The jaw-dropping financial drama began on November 18, 2025, when a local company was processing 74 routine electronic bulk payments.
Among those online transactions was a legitimate KSh 72,000 rent payment meant for Sitei’s commercial retail shop located in Suswa.
However, a monumental technical error occurred during the system batching, causing a massive KSh 6.7 million intended for a completely different firm to land in his personal account instead.
Instead of raising a red flag or alerting his financial institution, investigators reveal that Sitei quietly acknowledged the sudden windfall and went on a relentless spending spree.
When the company realized the devastating transaction blunder days later, they desperately reached out to the politician to recover the cash.
Rather than cooperating to return the funds, the prominent banking professional allegedly cut off communications completely and continued running through the remaining balance.
According to security insiders, the money was systematically withdrawn and transferred across various networks to fund lavish campaign logistics and real estate transactions.
When police eventually caught up with him after months on the run, a defiant Sitei reportedly told investigators that he preferred going to jail over offering a refund.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has officially stepped into the matter following a meticulous forensic audit of his bank statements.
The DPP has ordered that the politician be charged with Intentional Withholding of Erroneously Delivered Payments under Section 35 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
Furthermore, he faces severe counts of Money Laundering, which carries a hefty prison sentence and automatic seizure of personal assets under Cap 59A.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued a stern national warning to all citizens regarding accidental mobile and bank deposits.
“Money mistakenly credited to your account does not magically become yours simply because it is within your physical reach,” the DCI warned.
