Give Us Answers In 5 Days Or Else — GTA Staff Warn CEO Maame Efua
There is growing tension at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) as workers turn the heat on their Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
The Senior Staff Association of the GTA says it can no longer keep quiet over some troubling issues in the Authority. They are demanding clear answers from the CEO over three major concerns — World Cup visa slots, dismissed officials, and unpaid allowances.
According to the Association, members are confused and angry about how World Cup visa slots were handled. They claim there has been no transparency on who got the slots and how they were shared. For an institution that should be open and fair, they say this silence is worrying.
The second issue is about some officials who were dismissed. The Association says the dismissal of those officers was not properly explained to staff. They want to know why they were sacked and whether due process was followed. They believe workers deserve respect and fairness.
The third and most painful issue for many workers is unpaid allowances. Some staff say they have worked for months without receiving allowances that are due them. They say this is making life difficult for them and affecting their morale at work.
Because of these concerns, the Senior Staff Association has issued a strong call — they want a face-to-face meeting with CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto within five working days. They say she must come and explain everything to workers directly.
In their statement, the Association warned that if the CEO fails to meet them within the five days, they will decide on their next line of action. They did not mention what action they will take, but the tone shows they are ready to push harder.
The development has caught public attention because the GTA is a very important agency that promotes tourism and helps bring money into the country.
For now, workers are waiting. All eyes are on Maame Efua Houadjeto to see if she will meet the deadline and calm the tension before it gets out of hand.
