Ghana Awaits Attorney-General’s Opinion on Measures to Curb DStv Piracy – Sam George
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, says Ghana is awaiting an opinion from the Attorney-General’s Department before proceeding with proposed measures to curb piracy in the pay-TV sector.
Speaking at a joint press conference with MultiChoice on Monday, October 26, 2026, the Minister said the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Cyber Security Authority had reviewed the proposed anti-piracy solutions and considered them viable.
He said the government was also mindful of concerns that stricter enforcement against pirated decoders could affect consumers who turn to them because of affordability challenges.
According to the Minister, discussions with the relevant stakeholders had produced agreements intended to improve access to legitimate pay-TV services while making the use of pirated devices more difficult.
