Eugene Wamalwa Storms Wamunyoro With a Bull for Gachagua

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has attracted attention after visiting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County with a bull as a gift.

Wamalwa made the visit on Monday, October 26, 2026, amid growing political consultations among opposition leaders seeking to build a united front ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The former Defence Cabinet Secretary’s gesture came shortly after Gachagua held talks with Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and a delegation of Wiper leaders at the same residence.

The visit has added another twist to the ongoing political realignments, with leaders from different political formations exploring ways to work together against President William Ruto in the next election.

Gachagua confirmed his engagement with Wamalwa in a social media post, welcoming him to Wamunyoro as consultations among opposition leaders continued.

The bull gift has also drawn attention to the political significance of the meeting, coming at a time when discussions about the opposition’s presidential candidate are gaining momentum.

Earlier on Monday, Gachagua revealed that his meeting with Kalonzo focused on opposition unity and the formation of what he described as the sixth administration.

He further indicated that the leaders were willing to make sacrifices to agree on one presidential candidate capable of leading their political movement.

Wamalwa’s visit follows Gachagua’s October 20 meeting with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement.

That meeting sparked debate about a possible political understanding between Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and the Sifuna-led faction.

With Gachagua engaging Sifuna, Kalonzo and now Wamalwa, attention is turning to whether the opposition can agree on a common candidate before the 2027 polls.

The latest developments leave questions about how the different camps will balance their presidential ambitions and regional interests as consultations continue.

The unfolding political engagements at Wamunyoro are expected to shape discussions about opposition unity in the coming months.
