Ebo Noah jailed 10 years for robbing woman of GH¢1,500 phone

The Dansoman Circuit Court has sentenced Joel Agyemang, popularly known as Ebo Noah, to 10 years’ imprisonment for robbing a woman of her mobile phone valued at GH¢1,500 at Abossey Okai. Agyemang, 23, was convicted after pleading guilty to the robbery charge, while two other charges of unlawful entry and attempted stealing were withdrawn.

The prosecution was led by Chief Inspector Kyei Peprah. According to the latter’s brief facts, the complainant, Regina Oparebea, is a caterer employed by Annich Creation at Keep-Fit, Dansoman, and resides at Lapaz.

The court heard that on September 29, 2026, at about 1:55 p.m., Oparebea heard an unusual noise from the porch where catering equipment, including gas cylinders, was kept. When she went to investigate, she allegedly found Agyemang attempting to carry away a gas cylinder.

The complainant decided to call her employer’s husband, Paul Twum-Barima, to verify the claim. However, while she was making the call, Agyemang allegedly attacked her, grabbed her dress by the neck, dragged her and struck her on the right eyebrow, causing an injury.

He then snatched her Moto G Play mobile phone, valued at GH¢1,500, before scaling the fence wall and fleeing the premises.

The prosecution said Oparebea raised an alarm, attracting people who pursued and arrested Agyemang at Prof. Acheampong Street, Keep-Fit, Dansoman. He was subsequently handed over to the police for investigation. During investigations, Agyemang admitted the offence in a caution statement to the police, the court was told.

He was subsequently charged and brought before the Dansoman Circuit Court, where he pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.

The charges of unlawful entry, contrary to Section 152 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and attempted stealing, contrary to Sections 18(1) and 124(1) of the same Act, were withdrawn.
