The conflict of interests in the plan of the burial of the late gospel artiste, Bayonle Bolaji Olayemi, known as Toluwanisings, has taken a new twist as his parents’ family wants his burial, slated for this week, postponed so that an investigation can be opened into the cause of the death of Toluwanisings.

This is even as the service of songs is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27 and the burial date was not publicised, though it was planned for this week.

The death of the musician on October 14 caused emotions to run high on account of his rising fame and his song ministrations.

The conflict in the choice of location of burial had pitched the wife against her husband’s family, as the former wants Toluwanisings buried in a cemetery or church-owned, as she said she would not be comfortable living in a house where her husband was buried. The father had spoken in an interview that he wants his son buried in his house or in his village, where his mother was buried.

Now, the new twist is from Toluwanisings’ uncle, Comrade Lawal Ademola Rauf, who issued a statement that the family do not want him buried on Wednesday but requested an investigation into the cause of his death.

The family demanded that no burial should proceed until a full investigation is carried out.

“We don’t want him to be buried on Wednesday as they planned to. Everyone from his father’s family has agreed to this. We want people to help us in doing investigations into his death. Whenever we decide to bury him, we want him to be buried in his home in Ibadan, where his wife is currently living,” the statement read.

Comrade Lawal, through the statement, called on the government, Nigerians, and religious leaders to ensure a thorough and honest probe into how the gospel singer died.
