Don’t Blame Government For Unemployment – Duduzane Zuma Blasts South Africans In Umlazi

uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) First Deputy President Duduzane Zuma has asserted that addressing South Africa’s escalating unemployment crisis requires robust private investment and youth enterprise, warning that relying solely on state structures for job creation is unrealistic.

Addressing thousands of party supporters at an MKP provincial election rally held at K Hall in uMlazi township, south of Durban, Zuma outlined the party’s economic platform ahead of the upcoming local government elections. The MKP leader argued that public sector institutions and municipal administrations have finite hiring capacities, making it impossible for the state alone to absorb the millions of unemployed citizens across the country.

Zuma stressed that sustainable job growth relies fundamentally on stimulating local commercial investment, supporting young entrepreneurs, and creating enabling environments for private enterprise. He urged young South Africans not to view politics merely as a gateway to civil service employment, but as a vehicle to unlock broader economic participation. He called for emerging leaders to step forward across private business, technology, and local industries to drive economic transformation and generate opportunities outside government departments.

In his address to the uMlazi gathering, the MKP First Deputy President positioned the local government elections as a crucial stepping stone toward reshaping the country’s political and economic landscape ahead of the 2029 national polls. He noted that winning local municipal councils will provide the party with a direct platform to demonstrate its administrative capabilities and implement its economic recovery strategies.

Reinforcing the party’s stance on governance and public accountability, Zuma warned that an MKP-led administration would enforce strict performance standards, emphasizing that elected officials and municipal representatives who fail to deliver on service delivery mandates or economic targets will be promptly removed from their positions. He called on township voters to use their ballots to break political stagnation, secure administrative accountability, and empower a new generation of leaders capable of driving sustainable job creation.
