Stonebwoy Donates GH¢100,000 to Support Black Challenge’s World Cup Preparations

According to MyJoyOnline on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has donated GH¢100,000 to the Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, to support its preparations for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The award-winning musician made the donation during a visit to the team’s training session at Mensah Sarbah Park on the University of Ghana campus in Accra on Friday, October 23. He used the opportunity to encourage the players and express his confidence in their ability to represent Ghana successfully at the international tournament.

Stonebwoy explained that the donation was a contribution from himself and the Burna Boy Music Group. Although he described the amount as a modest gesture, he expressed hope that it would help the team meet some of its needs as preparations continue.

The musician also called on Ghanaians, corporate institutions and the government to provide more financial assistance to the team. He stressed that the players deserved encouragement and support because they were representing the country on the international stage.

Stonebwoy further highlighted the importance of treating persons with disabilities with dignity and respect. He urged the public not to ridicule people because of their physical conditions, noting that the Black Challenge players deserved recognition for their commitment to the sport and their efforts to make Ghana proud.

The donation comes as the team prepares for the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Mexico from November 13 to 22, 2026. Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq.

The Black Challenge will enter the competition hoping to turn their success in African amputee football into a historic global achievement. The team has established itself as a strong force on the continent, having won major competitions, including the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in 2021 and 2024.

However, preparations have faced logistical challenges, including difficulties securing visas that have affected plans for a pre-tournament training camp in Türkiye. Additional support is therefore important as the team works to ensure the players are adequately prepared for the competition.

Stonebwoy also praised Samson Deen, the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, for his leadership and efforts in supporting the team.

His donation is expected to provide some assistance as the Black Challenge continues its preparations. The musician’s appeal for wider support also places attention on the need for sustained investment in disability sports in Ghana.

With the tournament approaching, the players will be hoping to make the most of their preparations and deliver a strong performance in Mexico. Their ambition is to represent Ghana with pride and compete for the country’s first Amputee Football World Cup title.
