Rulani Mokwena Makes Strong Statement as Pyramids FC Storm Into CAF Champions League Group Stages

Egyptian giants Pyramids FC have booked their place in the group stages of the CAF Champions League after producing a convincing 4-0 victory over El Merriekh Bentiu in the second leg of their second preliminary-round encounter.

The impressive result saw Pyramids deliver a dominant performance to secure qualification for the next phase of Africa’s premier club competition under the guidance of South African coach Rulani Mokwena.

Going into the decisive encounter, Pyramids understood the importance of delivering a strong performance to achieve their continental ambitions. The Egyptian side responded by scoring four goals without conceding, demonstrating their attacking strength and defensive organisation.

The victory represents an important milestone for Mokwena, who is working to establish Pyramids as serious contenders in African football. His experience and tactical approach will be crucial as the team prepares to face stronger opposition in the group stages.

Pyramids’ qualification also gives the club an opportunity to measure itself against some of the continent’s biggest teams. The upcoming stage is expected to present a tougher challenge, with every club aiming to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

For Mokwena and his players, maintaining the momentum from this emphatic victory will be essential. Their ability to combine attacking efficiency with defensive discipline could play a significant role in determining how far they progress in the competition.

Meanwhile, El Merriekh Bentiu were unable to withstand Pyramids’ attacking pressure and have seen their campaign in this preliminary-round tie come to an end.

The CAF Champions League remains one of the most prestigious tournaments in African club football, attracting leading teams competing for continental glory.

With qualification now secured, Pyramids FC will shift their focus to the group-stage fixtures as they look to build on their impressive performance and pursue further success under Mokwena.

The big question now is whether the South African tactician can guide Pyramids beyond the group stages and mount a serious challenge for the continental title.
