Rigathi Gachagua Breaks Silence After Deadly Mtito Andei Crash Claims 22 Lives
Former DP Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his condolences following a deadly road accident at Mtito Andei that claimed 22 lives on Sunday, October 25.
In a statement shared on Sunday afternoon, Gachagua described the incident as a painful tragedy for the country, sending a message of comfort to families mourning the loss of their loved ones.
The former DP also wished those who sustained injuries a speedy recovery as they continue to receive medical attention following the crash.
He prayed for the souls of the deceased, asking God to grant them eternal rest while encouraging affected families to remain strong during the difficult period.
Gachagua’s message also carried a warning to motorists and other road users as the festive season approaches, with many Kenyans expected to travel to different parts of the country to celebrate Christmas with their families.
He particularly urged drivers to exercise extra caution on the roads, noting that the ongoing rainy season requires greater vigilance from motorists.
The former DP further called on government agencies and other authorities responsible for road safety to take the necessary measures to protect travellers on major highways across the country.
He argued that road users should not lose their lives because of negligence or reckless behaviour, stressing the importance of responsible conduct behind wheel.
The accident comes as concerns over road safety remain a significant issue, especially during periods when traffic increases because of holiday travel.
Gachagua’s remarks add to the messages of condolence following the tragedy, while drawing attention to the need for caution among motorists and stronger enforcement of road safety measures.
