Presidential Aide Ogra Debunks Tinubu’s Kaduna Handshake Rumours

Claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shook the receiving line with his left hand while in Kaduna for the flag-off of All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign ahead of the 2027 general election has been dismissed as absolute falsehood.

The claims were debunked by O’tega Ogra, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media.

The misinformation originated from an X (formerly Twitter) user, @arinzecajet001, who posted a mirror-reversed video that falsely depicted the President shaking hands with a receiving line using his left hand.

Reacting to the claims on his X handle, O’tega Ogra clarified that the original video shows President Tinubu exchanging right-handed handshakes with a receiving line positioned on his left.

He pointed out that the viral clip was a mirror-reversed edit designed to maliciously mislead the public into believing the President used his left hand to greet individuals on his right.

“By protocol, the receiving line is always on the right side of the aircraft, facing the plane’s nose,” Mr. Ogra said.

He clarified that the clip the X user claimed to be an arrival video was actually done when President Bola Tinubu was departing Abuja for the Kaduna rally.

He added that in the authentic arrival video from Kaduna, “the president steps off the plane and shakes the hand of VP Shettima first, then shakes Governor Uba Sani’s hand.”

Mr. Ogra, who also identified the superimposed AI logo on the video as a fake, urged Nigerians to be wary of the antics of frustrated and angry opposition elements.
