PalmPay Puts Customer Education At Centre Of Nigeria’s Fight Against Digital Fraud
As digital payment scams become a growing concern for financial service providers, PalmPay is emphasising customer awareness as a key part of fraud prevention, following its participation in a national cybersecurity campaign for the second consecutive year.
The fintech company supported the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre’s 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Walk, held on October 17 as part of a three day programme themed “Towards a Resilient Cyberspace”.
PalmPay’s approach combines digital security measures with efforts to help customers recognise suspicious messages, avoid phishing attempts and protect sensitive account information. Brandspur Brand News reports that the company is using its PalmPay Dey For You campaign to encourage safer financial transactions.
PalmPay Nigeria Managing Director, Chika Nwosu, said collaboration and continuous education were essential to building a safer digital environment, particularly as cybercriminals adopted increasingly sophisticated methods.
He said technology alone could not eliminate cybercrime without efforts to equip users with the knowledge needed to identify and prevent fraud.
Through its customer awareness campaign, PalmPay advises users to rely on official support channels and keep their personal identification numbers, passwords and one time passwords confidential. The company also directs customers to the Security Centre within its app, where they can access security features designed to help protect their accounts.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie said the awareness campaign reflected the police leadership’s commitment to strengthening internal security through public education, collaboration and preventive measures.
He urged Nigerians to follow the campaign’s message: “Think Before You Click and Verify Before You Share.”
The initiative comes as digital financial services continue to make electronic transactions increasingly accessible to Nigerians, making awareness of online threats an important part of protecting users.
PalmPay said it would continue its fraud prevention and customer education efforts to encourage safer use of digital financial services.
