Malema Sends Strong Warning to Zuma, Says He Will Continue Fighting Until He Goes to Jail

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has launched a fierce verbal attack on former South African president Jacob Zuma, declaring that he believes the MK Party leader will eventually end up behind bars. Malema also vowed to continue opposing Zuma over what he described as the destruction of the generational mission.

Speaking about his ongoing political differences with Zuma, Malema made it clear that he had no intention of backing down. The EFF leader used strong language to express his determination to hold the former president accountable for what he believes was the damage caused to the country’s political struggle.

“And we can tell you now, Zuma will go to jail. We want to see him suffer until the end for what he did to the generational mission,” Malema said.

His remarks highlight the deepening political divisions between the two influential figures, who have both played significant roles in South African politics. Although they once operated within the same political movement, their relationship has been marked by disagreements over leadership, political direction and the future of the country.

Malema further claimed that Zuma had been warned against confronting his political opponents, insisting that the former president had underestimated the people he was challenging.

“We told him that he’s fighting with the wrong people, firstly we have a [unclear in the supplied quotation] on our side and he doesn’t,” Malema stated.

The EFF leader also referred to Kgoshi Mampuru Correctional Centre in Pretoria, suggesting that Zuma would eventually be taken to the facility. His comments were delivered as part of his broader declaration that he intended to continue the political battle against the former president.

“We are going to fetch him from the village to Kgoshi Mampuru prison in Pretoria, and we don’t say things we don’t do,” Malema said.

He reinforced his position by insisting that the EFF would not abandon its opposition to Zuma.

“We told him we gonna fight him until he rots in jail,” Malema added.

Zuma, who served as South Africa’s president from 2009 to 2018, remains an influential political figure through his leadership of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party). His continued involvement in politics has contributed to ongoing debates about the country’s leadership and political future.

Meanwhile, Malema leads the EFF, a party that advocates economic transformation, land redistribution and greater state involvement in key sectors of the economy. The party has established itself as a prominent voice in South African politics and frequently challenges rival political organisations over their policies and leadership.

However, Malema’s statements about Zuma’s imprisonment represent his political position and should not be interpreted as confirmation of a legal outcome. Any decision resulting in imprisonment would depend on the relevant legal proceedings and decisions made by the courts.

Likewise, Malema’s reference to Kgoshi Mampuru Correctional Centre does not establish that Zuma has been ordered to serve a sentence there or that his imprisonment is imminent.

His comments have nevertheless drawn attention to the continuing tensions between the two political leaders. Whether Zuma or the MK Party will respond to Malema’s latest remarks remains to be seen.

For now, the EFF leader has reiterated his determination to continue challenging Zuma, making it clear that their political differences remain unresolved.
