Lagos Begins Online Verification for Pensioners
The Lagos State Pension Commission has directed eligible public service retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme to undergo a mandatory online verification process scheduled to run from October 26 through November 25, 2026.
According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, October 25, 2026, while issuing an official public notice in Lagos, LASPEC Director-General Babalola Obilana urged all affected retirees to complete the digital registration process promptly.
The comprehensive verification exercise targets retired heads of service, permanent secretaries, and former employees under the Teaching Service Commission and the Civil Service Pension Office to update official records and confirm ongoing pension eligibility.
Pension authorities emphasized that the entire verification procedure will take place strictly online across designated web portals, explicitly advising retired public servants against physically visiting government pension offices to complete their documentation.
Retirees must initiate their portal access through a two-step validation procedure using their Oracle numbers and surnames before selecting the self-service option to proceed with mandatory identity updating steps on the screen.
The registration system requires participants to activate device cameras for facial identity confirmation, upload valid Bank Verification Numbers or National Identification Numbers, and update personal details along with primary next-of-kin contact information.
The commission established dedicated telephone helplines and official email channels for technical assistance, reassuring retirees that the web-based system is designed to provide seamless verification without requiring physical travel to state offices.
