Kaizer Junior With Important Message After Chiefs Confed Cup Collapse

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior has moved quickly to back coach Fernando Da Cruz after the club’s Confederation Cup hopes ended in a penalty shootout loss to Red Arrows on Friday.

Motaung Junior released a clear statement saying the club will not be guided by the emotion of one bad result. He reaffirmed full support for Da Cruz and the entire technical team.

ā€œWe would like to reaffirm our full support for, and confidence in, the Head Coach and the entire technical team,ā€ he said. ā€œThey continue to have our trust.ā€

The message comes at a difficult time. Chiefs went into the Red Arrows tie without a win in four matches. Reports of unhappiness behind the scenes have also been circulating, adding pressure on the Portuguese coach.

Motaung Junior praised the technical staff for their professionalism, work ethic and daily commitment to improving the team. He called these qualities ā€œirreproachable.ā€

He also pointed to the spirit shown on the pitch. Despite the defeat and injuries in the squad, he said the warrior spirit of the players was clear to see.

The sporting director stressed that success in football is rarely decided by a single match or one competition. He said the club has made significant progress in key areas of its sporting project and will stick to the plan.

ā€œOur responsibility is not to be guided solely by the emotion of an adverse result, but rather by careful analysis, stability and strategic decision-making,ā€ Motaung Junior explained.

He acknowledged the frustration felt by supporters and thanked them for their passion. At the same time, he reminded everyone that the standards at Kaizer Chiefs remain as high as ever.

In closing, he called for unity rather than division. He said the club believes in the work being done, the people leading it, and the foundations being laid for future success.

Whether fans at Naturena share that belief is still to be seen. For now, the club leadership has made its position clear: there will be no knee-jerk reaction after the Confederation Cup exit. Stability and the long-term plan remain the priority.
