Kaduna Woman Beaten, Injured After Criticising Lack Of Public Support For Uba Sani Following Tinubu’s Visit

She questioned why Kaduna residents appeared reluctant to demonstrate the same level of enthusiasm for their governor that citizens from other states typically show when their leaders visit the city.

A woman believed to be a supporter of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani was reportedly assaulted and injured shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign-related visit to Kaduna, following her public criticism of residents for not openly showing support for the governor.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the woman, speaking in Hausa, expressed disappointment that Kaduna residents of the area did not come out to celebrate Governor Sani during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally, by playing songs in his honour, displaying his posters, or publicly showing their support, as supporters of governors in other states often do.

She questioned why Kaduna residents appeared reluctant to demonstrate the same level of enthusiasm for their governor that citizens from other states typically show when their leaders visit the city.

“Honestly, the people of Kaduna are surprised, and this is not how things should be. It should not be that in the whole of Kaduna, nobody has come out to show support for their own governor. Nobody has come out to promote Governor Uba Sani in this city. Nobody has come out to demonstrate patriotism and show that they are proud to be citizens of Kaduna State,” she said.

The woman lamented that while supporters of governors from other states routinely turned out to welcome their leaders with songs, posters and other displays of solidarity, residents of Kaduna failed to organise similar displays in support of their own governor.

“Nobody has come out to play songs in support of Governor Uba Sani in this city, while we watch people from other states playing songs in praise of their own governors. This should not be so. It should not be so,” she added.

She further argued that citizens should be able to express appreciation for their leaders regardless of political affiliations or opinions about how they have governed.

“Whatever your governor is doing, should you not show him support? We should demonstrate our support and appreciation for our leaders. It should not be that governors from other states come to this city, and their people turn out in large numbers to welcome them, play their songs and display their posters, while our own governor, Uba Sani, receives no such show of support,” she said.

However, a separate video obtained by SaharaReporters shows the woman in distress after the alleged assault, crying and bleeding from injuries to her forehead and nose.

In the footage, she is seen lying on the ground with visible injuries.

A third video captures the moment she is assisted into a tricycle, while security operatives are reportedly seen at the scene.

The woman was reportedly rescued by friends who were present during the incident.

Witnesses who spoke about the attack alleged that police officers at the scene watched as the woman was assaulted but failed to intervene effectively or arrest those responsible.
