I Saw Kwame Dzokoto’s Demise Coming – Mzbel on His Health Concerns

Ghanaian musician Mzbel has recounted her concerns about the late actor and television personality Kwame Dzokoto’s health before his death, explaining that his physical appearance and eating habits had made her worried about his well-being.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, the musician said she had noticed changes in Dzokoto’s appearance that raised concerns in her mind, particularly the condition of his stomach, which she described as swollen and hard, adding that she also felt he was having difficulty breathing.

“I saw Kwame Dzokoto’s demise coming,” Mzbel said as she reflected on the concerns she had developed about the actor before his passing.

She suggested that his involvement in the Edziban food series might have been connected to the health issues she believed he was experiencing, pointing to the different meals featured in the programme as a possible concern.

According to Mzbel, the series involved combining various Ghanaian and other popular dishes, including banku, fufu, noodles and ampesie, which she believed could make digestion difficult when eaten together.

“I think his condition might have been caused by the Edziban series he was doing,” she said, sharing her personal opinion about what might have contributed to the condition she observed.

The musician, however, acknowledged that she did not have the opportunity to discuss her worries directly with Dzokoto before his death, meaning she could not establish whether her observations were connected to any underlying medical condition.

Mzbel also used the discussion to caution individuals who create food-related content for entertainment and online engagement, encouraging them to consider their health while producing programmes that involve eating different meals.

She stressed the importance of being mindful of personal well-being rather than allowing the demands of content creation to take priority over health, particularly for creators whose programmes regularly involve consuming food.

Dzokoto was widely recognised for his role as Judge Koboo in the popular television series Efiewura and for hosting the Edziban food programme, which featured different meals and eating experiences.

The actor reportedly collapsed while participating in a radio discussion at Owass FM in Tarkwa before his death at the age of 51.

Although Mzbel has expressed her belief that his eating habits may have contributed to the health concerns she observed, no confirmed medical evidence has established a connection between the Edziban series, his diet and his death, and the cause of his passing has not been officially confirmed.
