Fans Describe Sarkodie as Next Daddy Lumba of Ghana

The fans made the remarks after Sarkodie dedicated a segment of his performance at Rapperholic 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to Daddy Lumba, playing several of his songs.

One of the fans, Frank Osei, told Atinka TV’s Ebenezer Madugu that, Sarkodie’s consistent recognition of the late musician whenever he mounted the stage demonstrated his deep respect for the highlife icon.

“Anytime he stands on a stage, he pays tribute to Daddy Lumba. Lumba will surely honour him. If he continues like this, he will be the next Lumba in Ghana,” he said.

Another fan, Ama Pat, said Sarkodie’s tribute showed that he had learnt valuable lessons from the late musician.

“We love him. Paying tribute to Lumba shows he has learnt so much from him. He is one of us. We love him, and I believe he will be the next Lumba of Ghana,” she said.

The fans also expressed their continued support for Sarkodie, praising him for using his platform to celebrate one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians.

Daddy Lumba, who died in 2025, was widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential highlife musicians, with a music catalogue that continues to attract audiences across generations.

Sarkodie’s tribute at Rapperholic 2026 added an emotional moment to the concert, drawing attention to the enduring influence of Daddy Lumba’s music on Ghanaian artistes and fans.
