Edo Seeks Botswana Investors for Agriculture and Livestock Projects

Edo State is exploring agricultural investment opportunities with Botswana, with discussions focusing on livestock production, animal feed manufacturing and agro tourism ahead of a planned international investment summit.

According to a report by PUNCH on Sunday, October 25, 2026, representatives of the Edo State Government met with Botswana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Philada Kereng, at the country’s High Commission in Abuja to discuss possible areas of cooperation.

The delegation was led by the state’s Commissioners for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Jerry Uwangue, and Livestock Development, Ohimai Ehijimetor.

During the meeting, Kereng commended the state’s efforts to develop its livestock sector and recommended that it consider investment opportunities in animal feed production and agro tourism. She also pledged the High Commission’s support in attracting investors to Edo’s proposed International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit.

The state government said the discussions formed part of its consultations with diplomatic missions to encourage international participation in the planned event.

Animal feed production could offer opportunities to businesses seeking to supply livestock farmers, while agro tourism could create additional commercial activities around farms and agricultural facilities. Both areas were identified during the discussions as potential components of Edo’s investment drive.

Other members of the delegation included Special Adviser on Livestock Development Roland Igbadumhe, Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture and Food Security Emmanuel Sule, and Ministry of Livestock Development Director Lucky Adebudo.

The proposed partnership is intended to attract investment, technical expertise and commercial participation into Edo’s agricultural and livestock industries. However, the statement did not announce any signed agreement or confirmed investment commitment between the state and Botswana.
