Tinubu: You Claim Nigerians Love You, Yet Your Billboards In Kaduna Require Security Guards- Atiku

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, October 23, 2026, African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the deployment of security personnel to protect his campaign billboards in Kaduna State, questioning the government’s priorities as insecurity continues to affect communities across Nigeria.

The former vice president expressed his concerns in a post published on his official X account on Friday. He questioned why political billboards required special protection when residents of several communities continued to face threats from armed groups.

Atiku also pointed to the continued attacks on villages and communities, which have left many families living in fear and uncertainty. He suggested that the situation contradicted Tinubu’s claims about enjoying widespread public support, arguing that the security arrangements for his billboards raised questions about the relationship between the president’s political image and the realities facing citizens.

“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear,” Atiku wrote.

The ADC presidential candidate’s comments come as political activities gradually intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election. Opposition figures have continued to scrutinise the Tinubu administration’s performance, particularly its response to security challenges affecting different parts of the country.

Armed attacks, kidnappings and violence by criminal groups have remained significant concerns for communities struggling to maintain their safety. Atiku’s remarks have therefore drawn attention to the need for security policies that protect citizens regardless of their location or political affiliation.

His criticism ultimately centred on the government’s responsibility to ensure that Nigerians can live without constant fear of attacks. He maintained that protecting citizens should remain a fundamental priority, especially in communities repeatedly affected by banditry and terrorism.
