They Acquired An AirBus And They Acquired A Yacht That Has Never Been To The Perimeter- Melaye

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, October 24, 2026, former Nigerian senator Dino Melaye has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the acquisition of an Airbus presidential aircraft and a yacht, questioning the decisions made by the president since assuming office.

Melaye made the remarks in a video shared on his official X account, where he compared Tinubu’s administration with that of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former lawmaker claimed that Buhari had purchased an aircraft for the presidential office before leaving government but alleged that Tinubu declined to use it after taking over power.

According to Melaye, the current administration instead acquired an Airbus and a yacht, which he claimed had not been brought within Nigeria’s territorial waters.

He questioned the rationale behind the acquisitions, suggesting that they reflected poor judgment and unnecessary spending at a time when Nigerians were facing economic difficulties.

Speaking in the video, Melaye said: “Three years before the next government, Buhari bought a jet for the office of the President but Tinubu came and refused to use it, he’s the first Nigerian to get an AirBus.

“They acquired an AirBus and they acquired a Yacht that has never been to the perimeter of this country before.

“Is that not a prodigal child? But it’s not his fault, Yoruba people say a child with no identity.

“He has no father, no mother, no brother, I even did a competition online that if anybody can get his classmate will get N5 million, four months after not one person.”

Melaye further used the remarks to question Tinubu’s personal background, making controversial comments about his identity and family connections.

His comments come amid heightened political tensions ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures increasingly criticising the president’s leadership, spending priorities and economic policies.

The former senator’s criticism adds to the ongoing exchanges between members of the opposition and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as political activities intensify ahead of the next general elections.

Tinubu’s administration and its supporters have continued to face scrutiny from opposition politicians over government decisions and spending, with debates over leadership and accountability remaining prominent in the political landscape.
