Son Of Super Eagles US β94 Star Available For Nigeria After Club Debut
According to a report by OwnGoalNigeria on Friday, October 23, 2026, the son of former Super Eagles defender Michael Emenalo is available to represent Nigeria at senior international level after making his professional debut for Scottish giants Celtic.
The 18-year-old defender remains eligible to play for Nigeria despite having represented the United States and England at youth level.
Family sources indicate that he is open to the possibility of following in his fatherβs footsteps, although he is not in a hurry to make a decision about his international future.
Landon, who was born in the United States and raised in England, is currently on a season-long loan at Celtic from English Premier League side Chelsea.
The youngster completed his move to the Scottish club during the summer transfer window as he seeks to gain valuable experience in senior football.
He made his professional debut for Celtic in their emphatic 7-1 victory over Hearts, coming on in the second half to play the final 30 minutes of the encounter.
The appearance marked an important milestone in his development as he begins his journey in senior football.
Like his father, Landon primarily operates as a left-back but can also play in central defence and midfield, giving him versatility across different positions.
Despite his eligibility to represent Nigeria, the teenager is understood to be focused on establishing himself at club level before making a definitive choice about his international future.
Consequently, an immediate commitment to the Super Eagles is not expected.
Landon joined Celtic on loan for the 2026/27 season on September 2, 2026.
The club described him as a versatile player who can operate in defence and midfield. He was also a regular starter for Chelsea’s Under-21 side during the previous campaign.
Celtic subsequently reported on October 13 that Emenalo had completed his injury rehabilitation with Chelsea and joined the first-team group in Glasgow.
Manager Martin OβNeill has praised his pace, athleticism, and composure on the ball.
His father, Michael Emenalo, represented Nigeria at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, where the Super Eagles reached the Round of 16.
The former defender later established himself in football administration, including serving as Chelsea’s technical director.
