Meet Top Elective Seat In Nairobi Mbavu Destroyer Is Set To Contest, Details
Internet personality, content creator, and amateur boxer Ferdinand Omondi, popularly known as Mbavu Destroyer, has officially declared his intention to vie for the Makongeni Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Makadara Constituency during the 2027 General Election.
The street-fighter-turned-entertainer unveiled a campaign poster on Friday, October 23, 2026, confirming his transition from digital content creation and street boxing to elective politics.
“Breaking News: It has been confirmed that I will be vying for MCA, Makongeni Ward, come 2027,” the campaign poster read, listing employment opportunities, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development as his four core legislative priorities for local residents.
”Whenever a cockroach falls into the soup, it doesn’t spoil the soup. But it just spoiled the appetite… it’s now about time,” Mbavu captioned his announcement, signaling his readiness to challenge the political status quo in Makadara.
Mbavu rose to national prominence through viral social media videos, street-style boxing matches, and his signature catchphrase “Weka mawe”.
His popularity surged following a high-profile bout against fellow amateur boxer Portifas Odipo (“Majembe”) at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in April 2026.
Before his rise to digital fame, Omondi worked as a security guard, often sharing his personal struggles and community aspirations online. His declaration places him among a growing cohort of young internet personalities leveraging digital followings to seek political office ahead of the 2027 polls.
