Kalonzo Hits Back at President Ruto Over ‘Mr. 40 Years’ Jibe
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at President William Ruto over political attacks targeting his four decades in public service, insisting that his record is not tainted by the killing of protesters or enforced disappearances.
Speaking in Kyuso, Mwingi North Constituency, on Saturday, October 24, after opening three Wiper offices, Kalonzo turned the “Mr. 40 Years” jibe into a defence of his political legacy.
“Despite all my years in public service, I have never ordered the killing of Gen Z protesters, nor presided over abductions and enforced disappearances,” Kalonzo said.
He compared his 40 years in public service to the 40 years the Israelites spent in the wilderness before reaching the Promised Land, saying Kenya was ready to move beyond its political and economic challenges.
“Kenya has walked its own long road of political and economic hardship, and the time has come for Kenyans to leave the wilderness and enter Canaan,” he said, pledging to lead the country towards that destination.
Kalonzo defended his record by citing Free Primary Education, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution as some of the reforms associated with his years in public service.
He also accused the Ruto administration of relying on propaganda, lies and political intimidation to undermine its opponents, insisting that the attacks would not distract him from his mission.
The Wiper leader further pledged to engage opposition leaders personally to build consensus ahead of the 2027 General Election, pushing for the selection of one presidential candidate to challenge Ruto.
“The mission to liberate Kenya is greater than any individual, political party or personal ambition,” he said.
Kalonzo also urged eligible Kenyans to register as voters, saying defeating Ruto in 2027 would require unity, determination and participation at the grassroots.
