Kaizer Motaung Jnr Reaffirms Kaizer Chiefs’ Support for Da Cruz After CAF Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have reaffirmed their support for head coach Fernando da Cruz and his technical team following the club’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, with Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr making it clear that the coaching staff continues to enjoy the club’s confidence.

The statement comes after Amakhosi suffered a disappointing exit against Red Arrows, raising questions among supporters about the team’s progress and its prospects under the current technical leadership. Despite the setback, the club has chosen to publicly stand behind Da Cruz and his colleagues as they continue working towards their long-term objectives.

Motaung Jnr stressed that the club remains committed to the direction being pursued by the coaching staff, emphasising that the result in continental competition has not changed the organisation’s position on their work.

“We would like to reaffirm our full support for, and confidence in, the Head Coach and the entire technical team,” he said.

The Sporting Director also underlined the trust placed in the coaching staff, adding that “They continue to have our trust” as the club works to establish a consistent football philosophy and build a team capable of achieving sustained success.

According to Motaung Jnr, the technical team’s approach and dedication remain important parts of the club’s wider sporting project. He praised their “professionalism, work ethic, and commitment to improving the team every day,” describing these qualities as “irreproachable.”

His comments indicate that Kaizer Chiefs are focused on maintaining stability rather than making an immediate change in leadership following their continental disappointment. The club appears determined to give the technical team the opportunity to continue developing the squad and implementing its plans.

Motaung Jnr further maintained that progress had been made in several areas, despite the disappointment of failing to advance in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“We have made significant progress in key areas of our sporting project,” he said, reiterating the club’s belief in the direction being taken.

He concluded by emphasising the importance of unity and patience as the team continues its work. “We believe in the work being done,” he stated, expressing confidence that the foundations being established can eventually help deliver the success expected by the club’s supporters.

For now, Da Cruz and his technical staff retain the backing of the Chiefs hierarchy as the team turns its attention to its domestic commitments.
