Kaizer Chiefs Reaffirm Support for Fernando da Cruz After CAF Confederation Cup Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have reaffirmed their support for head coach Fernando da Cruz and his technical team following their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, with Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr urging unity as the club continues its long-term plans.

The statement comes after Amakhosi suffered a disappointing exit from the continental competition against Red Arrows, a result that has left some supporters questioning the team’s progress. However, the club’s leadership has made it clear that the setback has not weakened its confidence in Da Cruz and the technical staff.

Motaung Jnr emphasised that the club remains committed to the coaching team and the football philosophy they are working to establish. He believes continuity and collective effort are important as Chiefs seek to build a stronger team capable of achieving sustained success.

“They continue to have our trust as they lead the implementation of a football philosophy and development pathway that we firmly believe will bring sustainable success,” Motaung Jnr said.

His remarks underline the club’s intention to focus on long-term development rather than make decisions based solely on one disappointing result. The football philosophy and development pathway are intended to provide a clear direction for the team, while helping improve its performance over time.

The Sporting Director also called for unity among the Amakhosi faithful, encouraging supporters to remain behind the club and its technical team as they continue their work. The backing is significant as Chiefs attempt to regain momentum and meet the expectations of their supporters.

For Da Cruz, the public show of confidence offers reassurance that the club’s leadership remains aligned with his plans despite the continental disappointment. Attention will now turn to the team’s domestic commitments, where consistent performances and positive results will be important in rebuilding confidence.

While the club’s support is clear, Chiefs will still need to demonstrate progress on the pitch. Supporters will be looking for improvements in attacking efficiency, consistency and the ability to turn promising performances into victories.

For now, Motaung Jnr’s message is one of trust, patience and unity as Kaizer Chiefs continue their efforts to establish a sustainable foundation for future success.
