Kɔnkɔma Group Sets Ejura Sekyerene Yam Festival On Fire With Powerful Performance

The 2026 Ejura Sekyerene Yam Festival came alive in a special way when the famous Kɔnkɔma Group mounted the stage with an energetic and unforgettable show.

The festival, which is celebrated every year in October to thank God and the ancestors for a bumper harvest of fresh yams, is known for rich Asante culture, drumming, dancing, and thanksgiving. This year, it was held under the theme “Sekyerene: Celebrating Ejura’s Rich Yam Heritage, Advancing Agriculture Innovation, Agribusiness and Sustainable Community Development.”

Chiefs, queen mothers, elders, and thousands of people from home and abroad gathered at the forecourt of the Ejura Palace to witness the grand durbar. But it was the Kɔnkɔma Group that stole the attention of the crowd.

Known for their deep traditional rhythms, powerful chants, and energetic body movement, the group gave a performance that shook the entire durbar grounds. Their drums spoke, their feet moved with fire, and their songs reminded everyone of the true meaning of Ejura’s yam heritage.

Young and old could not stay in their seats. The crowd clapped, sang along, and danced as the Kɔnkɔma Group turned the festival into a real celebration of culture.

For the people of Ejura, yam is not just food. It is history, it is identity, and it is life. And the Kɔnkɔma Group brought that identity to life on stage.

Their show was not just music. It was a message that Ejura’s culture is still strong, still alive, and still powerful enough to bring a whole community together.

This year’s Sekyerene Festival will be remembered for many things, but the energetic show by the Kɔnkɔma Group will be one of the highlights that people will talk about for a long time.
