Inspector Kenneth Sang Arrested In Eldoret In Connection With Two High-Profile Murder Cases
Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, who had been sought in connection with the murders of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu and Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
Sang was apprehended in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from DCI Headquarters, bringing an end to the manhunt for the officer.
According to the DCI, the arrest took place along Uganda Road in Eldoret’s Central Business District, where detectives intercepted the suspect as he drove a silver Toyota Fielder, registration number KCM 508L.
Investigators said Sang was reportedly attempting to sell the vehicle to raise money for his daily upkeep when officers caught up with him.
His arrest marks a significant development in the two murder investigations, which have drawn attention because of the victims’ professional backgrounds.
Mbobu was a prominent Nairobi lawyer, while Mutiso was a medical doctor.
Detectives are now expected to pursue further inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and determine whether other individuals may have been involved.
Following his arrest, Sang was escorted to Eldoret Police Station for processing as investigators prepared for the next steps ahead of his expected arraignment.
The DCI has maintained that investigations remain ongoing, with detectives following additional leads to establish the full extent of the alleged offences.
In its statement, the agency reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice for the victims and their families, stressing that no individual is beyond the reach of the law regardless of rank, status or affiliation.
The arrest is an important step in the investigations, although the allegations against Sang will be subject to the legal process.
