Government Close Ally Alleges Opposition Leader Working for President Ruto

Farouk Kibet has claimed that Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is still working with President William Ruto’s government despite publicly criticising the administration and appearing to distance himself from the ruling political camp.

Speaking during a political event in Vihiga, Kibet, a close aide to President Ruto, alleged that Nyoro’s apparent political departure was not genuine, suggesting the lawmaker could be pursuing a strategy benefiting the government.

Kibet directed his remarks at opposition leaders who have recently engaged with Nyoro, questioning their confidence in the lawmaker’s political position and implying that his apparent change of allegiance could be part of a government-backed plan.

“Wewe, don’t lecture us! Tulikupatia small wheelbarrow usaidie Ruto!” Kibet declared, using the remarks to suggest that Nyoro had been given a political role intended to help the President from within opposition circles.

The claims have raised questions about Nyoro’s relationship with the opposition, particularly after his criticism of the government’s taxation policies, public debt management and handling of the economy, which attracted attention among Kenyans.

Nyoro had previously apologised to citizens for supporting taxation measures introduced under the Kenya Kwanza administration, signalling a shift in his public position and fuelling speculation about his future political direction.

The Kiharu legislator also aligned himself with the People’s Party of Kenya and called on the government to stop attacking retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, urging leaders to concentrate on delivering services to Kenyans.

Kibet’s latest allegations have introduced fresh uncertainty surrounding Nyoro’s political realignment, with his remarks suggesting that the lawmaker’s engagement with opposition figures may not necessarily indicate a complete break from the President’s political camp.

The claims come as political leaders reposition themselves ahead of future electoral contests, with alliances, public disagreements and accusations of political manoeuvring increasingly shaping discussions about the country’s emerging political landscape.
