BREAKING: Joy as Third Survivor Is Pulled Alive From Eastleigh Building Rubble After 24 Hours

Rescue workers have saved a third person from the debris of a collapsed building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, more than a day after the structure came crashing down.

The latest breakthrough has renewed hope that other people feared trapped beneath the rubble could be found alive.Emergency teams are continuing their search along 9th Street, off 1st Avenue, as families anxiously wait for information about their missing relatives.

The latest rescue follows earlier efforts that saw other survivors pulled from the wreckage.

One of those rescued was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for medical attention.

The Kenya Red Cross reported 31 missing person cases after the building collapsed.

However, two people had already been reunited with their families as the agency worked to confirm the whereabouts of those reported missing.

The organisation also established that 66 of the 67 construction workers who were at the site had been traced and accounted for.

The search remains ongoing for anyone else who might have been inside or around the building when it collapsed.

Rescue teams have deployed sniffer dogs and heat-detecting equipment to help locate people buried beneath the debris.

Workers are also clearing the wreckage and digging towards the basement, where additional victims are feared to be trapped.Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja visited the site and expressed concern over the building’s construction.

He said the structure was being built without the required approval of its plans and called for stricter enforcement of building regulations.

Government Spokesperson Charles Owino also raised questions about the property’s ownership and construction paperwork.

He explained that the registered owner had died before the family entered into a joint venture.

Owino further disclosed that although construction plans had been submitted to the county government, they had not been approved.

This raised concerns about the documents presented to the National Construction Authority.

Meanwhile, police officers have restricted public access to the affected area to ensure rescue workers can carry out their duties without disruption.

As the operation continues, emergency teams remain focused on locating missing people and rescuing anyone who may still be alive beneath the wreckage.
