Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said the political alliance involving the Accord, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is strictly for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and will not extend to legislative elections

Adeleke made this clarification in Osogbo while inaugurating the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The governor said the coalition was formed specifically to mobilise support for Tinubu, stressing that the agreement among the participating political groups did not cover other elections.

He described the alliance as a convergence of influential political figures across party lines and expressed confidence that it would deliver more than 1.5 million votes for the president in Osun State.

“Our coalition is solely about Mr President, a man who means so much to Osun State and Nigeria. Our alliance is about the presidential election, on which we have all agreed to support the re-election of President Tinubu,” Adeleke said.

He urged political leaders and stakeholders in the state to set aside their differences and work together to achieve the coalition’s objective.

“These are critical times for the Yoruba people and Nigeria as a whole. For Osun people and their gladiators, we must accept God’s will and rally round the president, irrespective of our previous disagreements,” he added.

Adeleke charged members of the campaign council to intensify mobilisation for Tinubu, saying unity among political actors was essential to achieving the coalition’s target.

“I task us to move out in the spirit of oneness and deliver the votes for our president. From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, the APC National Secretary, Dr Ajibola Basiru, urged political leaders and stakeholders in Osun State to support Adeleke in ensuring the success of Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Basiru called on political actors to set aside personal ambitions, political interests and party differences in pursuit of the President’s second-term bid.

“For us in Osun State, we must understand that, irrespective of our feelings, ambitions or political interests, we must abide by the mission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support Governor Ademola Adeleke to ensure the success of the campaign,” he said.

He also urged stakeholders across party lines to work with the state government to secure votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
