Yaw Siki opens up about pornography addiction that began in JHS

Ghanaian gospel minister and former hiplife musician Yaw Siki has opened up about his past struggles with pornography addiction, revealing that his exposure to the habit began during his Junior High School (JHS) years.

The musician, known in private life as Isaac Okine, shared details of his past as he reflected on the lifestyle he led before becoming a Christian and dedicating himself to gospel ministry.

According to reports published on October 22, 2026, Yaw Siki spoke about his early exposure to pornography and how the habit eventually became an addiction. His account has renewed discussions about the exposure of young people to sexually explicit content and the potential consequences of developing unhealthy habits at an early age.

In an earlier interview with media personality DrPounds on Pounds TV, Yaw Siki admitted that pornography had become a significant part of his former lifestyle. He explained that his involvement with sexually explicit content contributed to frequent masturbation and influenced his behaviour.

“I used to chop ashawo and I was addicted to porno,” he disclosed during the interview, describing the struggles he faced before his religious transformation.

Yaw Siki also spoke about his history of alcohol consumption and smoking, revealing that he began drinking at a young age. He attributed some of his early exposure to alcohol to his upbringing, explaining that his parents drank heavily and that he sometimes ran errands to buy alcoholic beverages for them.

His life took a major turn after he survived a near-fatal accident on the Accra–Tema Motorway on April 15, 2013. The incident left him with serious head injuries and required extensive medical attention.

He later described the accident as a turning point that prompted him to reconsider his life and relationship with God. Following his recovery, he abandoned secular music and devoted himself to Christian ministry.

Since then, Yaw Siki has regularly shared his personal experiences to encourage others to avoid habits he believes can be harmful and to embrace a more disciplined lifestyle.

His latest revelation highlights the importance of early guidance, responsible media exposure and open conversations with young people about pornography and other potentially harmful behaviours.
