Voxy vehicles cleared for Accra–Kumasi, Accra–Aflao routes
The National Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association, William Osei, popularly known as Paa Willie, has announced that Voxy vehicles have been cleared to transport passengers on the Accra–Kumasi and Accra–Aflao routes following engagements between transport authorities and drivers.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Paa Willie said the clearance follows a series of discussions aimed at addressing concerns surrounding the operation of Voxy vehicles for commercial passenger transport.
He explained that the association had engaged its members extensively on the need to improve safety and ensure responsible driving practices.
According to him, regular checks and strict enforcement of road traffic regulations by the relevant authorities will be essential in addressing accidents and other safety risks associated with the vehicles.
Paa Willie expressed optimism that closer collaboration between drivers and transport authorities would help reduce road crashes and protect passengers and other road users.
Meanwhile, transport expert Kofi Asante has expressed concern over the clearance, raising questions about the safety implications of allowing the vehicles to transport passengers on long-distance routes.
Kofi Asante, in an interview with Adom News, said the clearance is expected to bring renewed attention to the need to balance the operations of commercial transport services with passenger safety and compliance with road traffic regulations.
According to him, he doubts the government has any lasting solution to monitor and curb the dangers aligned with using Voxy vehicles as a means of commercial transport.
