Tinubu Is Unwell, So If You Vote For Him, You Are Voting For His Cronies To Run Nigeria” Okonkwo

According to a video posted on Symfoni TV on Thursday October 22, 2026, Kenneth Okonkwo said he believes President Tinubu is unwell. He said that a vote for Tinubu would be a vote for the people around him. He made the claim at a town hall meeting in Abuja.

Okonkwo said the people who would govern are the president’s associates, not the president himself. He gave an example of a public appearance. He said that if the president wants to speak at a podium, they will bring a podium that he does not have to climb a step to reach.

He presented these remarks as his own view. The Symfoni TV video does not include any medical report or response from the presidency. The claim is therefore attributed only to Okonkwo.

In his words, Okonkwo said, “Tinubu is unwell. If you’re voting for him, you’re voting for all the cronies to be governing Nigeria, not him. If he wants to talk in a podium, they will bring the podium where he will not climb step. That’s the truth. I don’t like to make capital with the sickness of any human being, because anybody can be sick,” he said.

Okonkwo said that when a person is sick, the person should say he is done. He said Nigerians would then pray for him to retire and enjoy what he has made in peace. He said the problem arises when an unwell person wants to govern an unwell country.

He said that in that case both the leader and the country would suffer. He said Nigeria is not well and needs a fit and capable person to treat it. He then pointed to his preferred candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Okonkwo also said the president’s trip abroad was described as a working vacation. He said he regards it as a medical vacation. He asked why a presidential campaign council is needed if the president says he will not campaign.
