The Day Gachagua Allegedly Returned From The US And Secretly Stayed At His Home

Citizen TV journalist Sam Gituku has shed light on how former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua returned to the country from the United States, saying it happened quietly and without the usual noise. He spoke on Citizen News Gang, where he described the return as a stark contrast to earlier trips that usually came with plenty of publicity.

According to Gituku, Gachagua landed on Sunday night, and he gathered that the former deputy president stayed in and rested on Monday. By Tuesday he was back at work, hosting Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other leaders from the Linda Mwananchi movement at his home in Wamunyoro. Gituku said he learned the timeline from his own sources, and it has not been confirmed by Gachagua’s office.

The journalist also pointed to activity by other opposition figures. He said Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has been holding several meetings with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and attending different rallies around the country. The two have been seen together on several occasions, which has fuelled talk about a possible working relationship ahead of the next election.

Gituku summed up the mood by saying that political leaders appear to be busy trying to form alliances. His remarks reflect the wider picture in opposition politics, where several leaders are testing one another and looking for partners as the 2027 race gets closer. No formal arrangement has been announced, and the leaders involved have not described their meetings as the start of any coalition.

The quiet return has drawn plenty of attention from Kenyans online, many of whom are wondering what it means for the opposition’s plans. Some see it as a sign that serious talks are going on behind the scenes, while others think it is simply a break from the usual political theatre.
